SUMMARY:Fundraiser - Hosted by Charlene Starratt
DESCRIPTION:HELP SUPPORT THE 26.2 FOUNDATION \nA philanthropic non-profit 501(c)3 organization with roots in Hopkinton\, MA  and international research that supports many charities including The Special Olympics\, The Leukemia Lymphoma Society\, The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation\, the East Coast Jumbos (a hockey program for youths with special needs)\, The Angel Fund (ALS research) and The Dana Farber Institute\, the “Marathon Fitness Challenge\,” (an innovative fitness program for 2nd and 3rd grade students). \nThe 26.2 Foundation makes investments in programs that promote education\, fitness and health.  They promote and support the sport of marathoning\,health\, wellness and economic development initiatives through strategic investments in innovative\, multi-generational programs on local\, regional\, national and global levels.  For more information about the 26.2 Foundation and the programs the organization has supported\, please visit their website\, www.26-2.org. \nMy name is Charlene Starratt and I’m from Worcester\, MA.   On April 21st\, 2014 I’ll be running the Boston Marathon for the first time! This is so exciting because I only started running three years ago\, and I’m 53.  Since that time I have raced in several triathalons and multiple 5K’s\, 10Ks\, half marathons\, as well as five marathons in just one year!!. My first full marathon was the Cape Cod Marathon in October 2012.  And now I’m here\, training to run the most epic\, historical\, prominent race in the country\, the Boston Marathon.  \nFrom the Elite runners to the wheelchair racers\, and those struggling just to finish the race; their drive and determination has been inspiring.  Whether they’re running for their own accomplishments/goals\, or whether they’re racing for a charity (a friend\, a neighbor\, a relative).  They’ve made it to the start line.  That\, in it of itself\, shows bravery and determination.  Now it’s my turn to give back to the city of Boston; to honor those who have given so much to others.  But I can’t do this without your help. I need to raise $4\,000 towards this charity to run this year. That’s just $20 from 200 people or organizations. \n Please consider donating to my charity with whatever amount you can do\, by making out your tax deductible contribution\, payable to the 26.2 Foundation and returning to me at your earliest convenience. Or please visit my fundraising page at www.firstgiving.com and type my name in the search block. The 26.2 Foundation does a lot of great things for many organizations in this country as well as in other countries. \n  \nThank you very much for your support! \n  \nCharlene Starratt
