Bayda Asbridge – Artist Reception

Artist’s Statement :

Bayda Asbridge is an artist who is interested in many genres of art, specifically Asian & Middle Eastern art. Bayda paints in the traditional Asian style as well having liberties in expressing her artistic vision in other mediums such as Japanese weaving (Saori), mixed media, photography, sculpture and paper collage/ art.

Bayda works for Worcester Art Museum as a youth and adult teacher. Her work extends to outreach programs working with local schools, libraries and councils. She has displayed some of her art work in a number of local museums, galleries and exhibitions earning her some awards and honorable mention. In 2011, she was awarded the Frances Kinnicut scholarship where she travelled to England to study mixed media.

This particular exhibit at Nu Café features mostly Bayda’s weavings.  Bayda has invited two local artists to participate in the show.  Each body of artwork compliments the others.
