#She_Builds is a is a community platform that exists to empower and connect Haitian women entrepreneurs and professionals from around the world, and increase access to global opportunities and value chains. Our three pillars are to: amplify the voices of women, build connections and foster engagement. Locally each chapter does this by hosting "Tea Talk" events where we highlight a woman in the community who we feel is doing this well. Our speaker this time around is Vanessa Jean who is a business strategist and connector.
We're looking to host our next Tea Talk event at NU Kitchen Somerville. Myself and the chapter Ambassador, Rebecca Obonou, already came in and checked out the space and thought it would be an ideal place to host our second event. We're a fan of the food and the location is something we feel people can easily get to. For our first event, we made 60 tickets available (the event is free) and all 60 were reserved. About 35-40 people actually showed up, so we had a great turn out. I expect this would be the case this time around as well.
As for the actual event, it would go from 6pm-9pm and we envision it would run like this:
6-6:45: Arrival, check in and Mix & Mingle
*we would expect that our attendees would be arriving, chatting, eating and drinking
6:45-7: Opening remarks
7-7:45: Conversational Interview
8-9: Additional networking time & clean up
